
After college Matt graduated from The Options Institute at the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) and travelled the country teaching options and derivative strategies to various financial firms and their advisors. Matt has extensive experience dealing with the complexities of Rule 144 and Section 16 of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934. He focuses on how such rules impact liquidity events during mergers, acquisitions, and initial public offerings. He’s been involved in some of the largest derivative-based transactions for restricted and control stock on Wall Street.
Prior to starting FIG Capital, Matt ran the Corporate & Venture Services Group as Managing Director of the investment bank at Prudential Securities with offices in San Francisco and Menlo Park, California. He was personally responsible for assets under management in excess of $3.5 billion. Matt specialized in working with high net worth entrepreneurs and venture capital firms in Silicon Valley. He's worked with multiple public and private companies across numerous industries including, but not limited to technology, construction, transportation, public utilities, sports, manufacturing, and private equity.
Matt has spent the last decade specializing in both qualified and non-qualified corporate retirement plans. He focuses on plan design, implementation, compliance, monitoring, fiduciary guidance, and participant education. As much as he enjoys working with corporations his passion is investment planning for individuals and families. Growing up, Dean was an Airforce brat and was fortunate to have lived many places throughout the world, including Izmir, Turkey. After his father retired, he lived in Southern California where he eventually settled down until he left for college at San Jose State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Management) degree in 1983. Following graduation, Dean attended Aviation Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, Florida and received his commission as an Ensign in the Navy in the summer of 1984. Stationed at NAS Moffett Field, he flew and instructed in the P-3 Orion. He married his wife Michelle in the summer of 1984, whom he met in college. They have five kids - the youngest of whom are twins.
After serving in the Navy, Dean joined Prudential Securities in 1993 where he began his career as a financial advisor. Dean was recognized by Prudential Securities after his first five years for having built a thriving practice. In 2007, Dean joined Merrill Lynch where he continued to enjoy not only professional success but continued assisting his clients to pursue their financial goals. In 2014, Dean joined Wells Fargo Advisors Financial Network as Correa Wealth Management and later joined forces with FIG Capital, founded by Matt Montini.

JD brings to FIG Capital his contagious energy and positive attitude along with over 25 years of investment experience. He focuses on managing investment portfolios for individuals and families, including executives and small business owners. Through Wells Fargo Advisors Financial Network's capital markets syndicate platform, JD can provide his clients with access to IPO’s, overnight secondary and preferred security offerings, amongst other deals.
JD’s first love is his family. His wife Michele was one of the first cold calls he ever made in the business. Together they are the proud parents of two children, Jake and Kennedy. They also have an old English bulldog named Pluto.
